Over 50 years after the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic were founded and over 10 years after German Reunification, this publication attempts a first historical review of architecture’s development in both German states. The focus is on their respective discourses, including questions of housing, commemoration and tradition vs. innovation.
